You'll be collected from your hotel at approximately 8:00 am and driven to Londorosi Gate, situated on the western side of Kilimanjaro. Following the registration process, we'll commence our ascent gradually, traversing the forests of the Lemosho glades until we reach Big Tree Camp, our overnight stop.

Day 2

Today's journey takes us across a vast plateau adorned with grassy moorland and scattered with volcanic rock formations. Our aim is to reach Shira 1 Camp, offering potential glimpses of Kibo Peak amidst the clouds. Expect a notable gain in altitude today, with some sections of the route presenting steep inclines.

Day 3

Today you will get the chance to view the Northern Ice fields from the western side of the mountain with some unusual views of Kibo. Our steady climb across the moorland of the Shira Plateau will help with acclimatization and we enjoy great panoramic views. Our destination today is the Shira 2 Camp. In the afternoon you will take an acclimatization walk then head back to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4

Embark on your trek with an ascent offering sweeping panoramic vistas, transitioning into the climatic zone of the upland desert and traversing lava ridges beneath the glaciers of the Western Breach. Your journey reaches its apex at the distinct pinnacle of the Lava Tower (4640 m), marking our highest point for the day and a perfect spot to savor lunch. In the afternoon, brace for a steep descent to our overnight camp nestled at the base of the Great Barranco Valley (3960 m). Sheltered by towering cliffs, the camp offers expansive views of the plains below.

Day 5

Our day commences with a descent into the vast expanse of the Great Barranco, a monumental ravine. Exiting steeply, we tackle the formidable Great Barranco Wall, separating us from the southeastern slopes of Kibo. This leg involves a rocky climb, non-technical yet demanding in its length and exertion. Passing beneath the imposing Heim and Kersten glaciers, our route leads us onward to the Karanga Valley. From there, a challenging ascent awaits, leading us to our evening campsite at Karanga Camp, perched at 3963m. For those up to the challenge, an optional mid-afternoon acclimatization trek to approximately 4200m awaits, before descending back to camp for the night.

Day 6

After a rejuvenating night's sleep and a hearty breakfast, we embark on our journey to Barafu Camp at 4640m. The ascent leads us across barren scree slopes devoid of vegetation, presenting a challenging and steep trek exacerbated by the altitude. Upon reaching camp, we replenish ourselves with a meal and dedicate the afternoon to rest, preparing for the arduous night and day ahead. Staying hydrated and keeping warm are paramount. An early dinner is served, followed by attempts to rest, as we anticipate rising between 11pm and 12pm to commence the final climb to the summit.

Day 7
Barafu Camp (4640m) to Uhuru Peak (5895m) to Mweka Camp (3100m)

We start off at around midnight, and walk steeply upwards to the summit glaciers. We will be climbing scree for 4 to 5 hours but gain incredible height over a short distance. The views are spectacular. We should be on the crater rim at Stella Point (5739m) as the first rays of the sun hit us. Spectacular ice cliffs within the crater surround us and the views to jagged Mawenzi peak and beyond are breathtaking. Another hour’s walking takes us to the summit, Uhuru Peak (5895m). We begin our descent by returning to Stella Point and then descending on scree slope and track back to Barafu Camp for breakfast, before finally heading down to Mweka Camp for a long well-earned rest.

A leisurely trek guides us down through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where we fulfill park formalities and proudly receive certificates as mementos of our achievement. From there, our vehicles await to transport us back to the hotel in Moshi, where you can indulge in a refreshing shower and celebrate with chilled beverages. You'll spend the night at your arranged hotel.
