As you walk out of Kilimanjaro International Airport, your velam safari guide greets you with a big smile: 'Karibu Tanzania - welcome to Tanzania!' The guide takes you straight to your hotel, where you can relax and take in the African atmosphere. The next day your guide takes you on an exclusive, private safari that allows you to travel at your own pace. Enjoy the luxury of your own safari jeep and take the liberty to stop and watch the animals as long as you like!

Tarangire National Park is well known for its big groups of elephants and the huge amount of giant baobab trees. These trees can live for hundreds of years and are actually a source of water for elephants in the dry season as they have a special technique to draw water from them. Besides, the Tarangire River is the only source of water in the dry season, which is why in this season in Tarangire you can see groups of up to 250 elephants next to many more animals!

Serengeti National Park is widely known as the place to go on safari, mainly because of the Great Migration that passes through here. The enormous, stampeding herds are impressive, as are the vast amount of predators that live here: over four thousand lions, 225 cheetahs, a thousand leopards, 3500 hyenas and hundreds of wild dogs! And of course, plenty of other beautiful animals, which your guide will be delighted to search for together with you. Are you ready for this?

The Great Wildebeest Migration, is the largest mammal migration in the world and one of the Seven New Wonders of the World. It is a true spectacle of nature and impressive to see millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazelle thunder across the endless plains of the Serengeti. The epic river crossing at the Grumeti- and Mara River are the highlight of the wildebeest migration for many travellers. If the wildebeest migration in Serengeti National Park is the reason you are coming to Tanzania, it’s important to know where the herds are. After that you will transfer to Zanzibar.

Get an early air transfer and travel to the beautiful Zanzibar. The time from Arusha to the airport is around a 1 hour drive and then the air transfer to Zanzibar is approximately 1.5 hours. If you get an early air transfer you will have plenty of time to explore Stone Town.
The air transfer to Zanzibar will likely be on a small air transfer and you will get some incredible views air transfer onto the island. The blue waters are just divine!

Buy your coconut drink fresh on the beach, spend hours sunbathing or swimming, and taste the delicious Zanzibari food. In the mood for something active? Then explore the beach, ocean, and island through a range of activities! We highly recommend the Safari Blue Cruise or a tour of Stone Town.

Day 7

This morning, you could either explore some more of Stone town, or make your way straight to the beach resort. I booked half day tour for myself, going out to Changuu Island. I would really recommend this tour; it is only 30 minutes from Stone Town by boat. The island has a hard history and was used to hold slaves back in the day. However nowadays many people visit to see the giant tortoises that live here. You can also go snorkelling off the island as part of the tour, where you can see lots of colourful little fish.

The last day! Depending on your flight time, you can relax on the beach or explore the island just a little bit more. A driver then takes you to Zanzibar International Airport in time for your flight home. Having second thoughts? It's also possible to extend your holiday to another paradise island, such as Mnemba, Pemba, or Mafia!
