Kibale National Park

After an early breakfast, you will make your way to the Kibale National Park offices for a briefing on the rules and requirements for tracking chimpanzees. Following the briefing, an experienced ranger guide will lead you into the forest to find the primates. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale typically takes between 2-5 hours. It offers a different experience from gorilla trekking, as chimps are more vocal and tend to spend most of their time in the treetops. They are also more mobile, often requiring you to follow them for some time before they settle down and allow for some good photography opportunities.

After the trek, you will return to your hotel for lunch and some rest. Later in the evening, you will have the opportunity to go for a walk around the Bigodi Swamp to spot other primates and several bird species.

Kibale National Park - Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will depart early for Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in time for your first game drive in the Ishasha sector. This area is renowned for its tree-climbing lions, along with other impressive mammals, primates, and antelopes. The lions here prefer lodging in tree branches because it helps them escape insect bites and give them a clear view of their territory.

Tree-climbing is known to have evolved among two lion populations in the world: those in the Ishasha sector and those in Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania. However, the best place to see them is in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. After this first game drive, you will head back to the lodge to rest.
