Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve

Pick up from your hotel or airport and depart to Samburu National Reserve located in the Northern Kenya crossing the Equator to arrive in time for lunch.
At 4pm, proceed for an afternoon game viewing in the reserve which is famous for its truly wild semi-arid landscape, and the large concentration of wild animals and bird-life. Samburu is popular for hosting the rare Northern-Kenya animal species commonly referred to as the 'Samburu Five' (Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx and Somali Ostrich) which are not found in the other popular parks and reserves in Kenya. It is also home to all the African big cats (Lion, Cheetah and Leopard), alongside other big game including Elephants, Buffaloes, Warthogs, Hippos, Impalas, Water-bucks and many others. Dinner and overnight will be at Samburu Sopa Lodge.

We spend this whole day exploring Samburu Game Reserve with early morning game drive where the light is perfect for a good photographic scenery coupled with the concentration of wildlife on the ground, mid morning game drives and afternoon game drives where you will have the opportunity of spotting all the big cats. We can have option visit to Samburu Village and learn about the uniqueness of Samburu tribe and their culture at an extra cost.
Samburu is also a renowned bird watching haven, with hundreds of bird species resident here. These include Kingfisher, Bee-eaters, Tawny Eagle, Guinea-fowl, yellow throated Spurfowl, Lilac-breasted Roller, Red-billed Hornbill, Secretary Bird, Verreaux’s Eagle, Superb Starling, Yellow-billed Hornbill and Vultures.
The unique culture of The Samburu tribe who live in the region is the icing to cake for the amazing Samburu National Reserve.

Samburu National Reserve - Nairobi

We embark on early morning game drive on sunrise when predators are active and later return to the lodge for a late leisurely buffet breakfast. After breakfast depart Samburu National Reserve with the last picturesque of the reserve arriving Nairobi in the afternoon. You will be dropped at either your hotel or airport to connect your home bound flight depending on the arrangements where the safari ends.
