Day 2
Explore the Great Mara
Explore the Great Mara
Rise early in the morning when the animals are most active for a morning game drive with your guide. This is yet another bush experience that will surely create lifetime memories. One of the most sought-after safari experiences is coming across the big cats during a game drive. If you are fortunate enough, you will catch lions during one of their rare bouts of daytime activities. It can be fascinating to watch the social interaction between pride members, especially the playful ways of lion cubs under the watchful eyes of their mothers.
Return to the camp for a mouthwatering breakfast. Your guide will then take you to the nearby Maasai village (at an extra cost), where you can experience the Maasai way of life (optional). Return to the camp for lunch before setting out for an evening game drive where you will be driven over rolling grassland dotted with a mixture of acacia trees to spot the plains game, including large herds of elephants, zebras and gazelles.

After breakfast, depart from the Mara through the Maasai plains and the Mau escarpments into the floor of the Rift Valley. Arrive in the flamingo-fringed Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru is one of several Rift Valley lakes, and its ecosystem supports a wide ecological diversity with flamingos (greater and lesser) and other waterbirds being the major attractions of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals, including white rhinos and buffaloes, and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species.

Lake Nakuru National Park - Lake Naivasha
You will have breakfast, then check out of the lodge. You will proceed to Hell’s Gate National Park, named for the intense geothermal activity within its boundaries. Spectacular scenery, including the towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub-clad volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam, makes it one of the most atmospheric parks in Africa. The park is also home to African buffaloes, zebras, elands, hartebeests, Thomson's gazelles and baboons. Later in the evening, you will have a boat ride safari on Lake Naivasha.
Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake, fringed by thick papyrus. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow-barked Acacia. The waters of the lake draw a great range of game to these shores. Giraffes wander among the acacia, buffaloes wallow in the swamps, and colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the lake’s large hippo population sleep the day out in the shallows. You will also visit Crescent Island.
