After registering at the Kilimanjaro National Park gate you’ll take your first step toward your goal – the roof of Africa. You’ll be hiking through the montane forest, a lush, biodiverse zone, and home to the endemic flower Impatiens Kilimajari. Keep an eye out for blue and colobus monkeys and listen to the birdsong, the avifauna here is prolific. You may even catch a glimpse of Hartlaub’s Turaco, a stunning brightly coloured resident. After reaching Mandara Hut you could take a walk over to the Maundi crater or just relax and enjoy the scenery.
Mandara hut 2700m- Horombo hut 3720m
Early in the morning after breakfast, embark on the 5 Days Kilimanjaro Climb Trekking Marangu Route towards Horombo hut with a picnic lunch. Passing through a forested stretch from Mandara hut, the trail transitions to the moorland around the base of the Maundi Crater. Consider a detour to the rim for a panoramic view of Kibo Crater and, on clear days, the glaciers of Kibo—a prime photo opportunity. As you embark on the 5-day Marangu Route Kilimanjaro climb, be prepared for thinning oxygen levels at higher altitudes. Today's trek leads to the "Saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Opt for the lower, easier route passing the last watering point. Refill water here as the next one is at Horombo hut on your descent. Pace yourself, staying hydrated. It takes 5-7 hours to reach Kibo Hut for rest and dinner. Temperatures fluctuate drastically. Prepare equipment for the final ascent tonight. Ensure ski-sticks, thermal clothing, headlamp, and camera batteries are in order. Carry water in a thermal flask to prevent freezing. Aim for bed by 7:00 pm for ample rest before the early morning ascent.

Kibo hut 4700 m – Uhuru Peak 5895 m- Horombo hut 3720 m
Today on the 5-day Kilimanjaro Climb Marangu Route, brace yourself for the toughest challenge. Beginning just before midnight, ascend to Hans Meyer Cave at 5150 meters, then continue to Gillman’s Point at 5680 meters. This steep and rocky section demands careful pacing. From Gillman’s Point, expect snow on the final stretch to Uhuru Peak at 5895 meters. Take time to savor the accomplishment before descending to Kibo hut, a 3-hour journey. After a rest and breakfast, continue to Horombo hut, another 3-hour descent. Arrive in the afternoon for lunch, rest, and dinner before spending the night, feeling accomplished.

Horombo hut 3720 m – Mandara hut 1980m to Marangu gate
After an early and well-deserved breakfast, you continue your descent passing the Mandara hut, right down to the Marangu gate – this may take the simplest a part of six hours.
