After breakfast, you'll depart Moshi about 8:30 a.m. Drive to Momella gate. Here, you will sometimes wait while our guides do the paperwork at the park’s reception. You are given an armed park ranger and start the climb with a picnic lunch to the first hut, called Miriakamba hut. Here is where you will start by walking on a safari experience, passing through the Arusha National Park while exploring wildlife from very close.
Mount Meru has one route to the top and can be attempted/climbed for three days without acclimatization day and four days climb with additional day for acclimatization day so with us normally we highly recommend doing for four days for acclimatization, to clients who are not having good experience with climbs and of course who aren’t in a good shape.
Your dinner and overnight stay will be at Miriakamba Hut.

Day 2
Miriakamba Hut - Saddle Huts

After breakfast, you'll proceed with a climb to the second hut called Saddle Hut. This is a steep part compared to the first part (2 ½). During the afternoon, you can decide to attempt climbing little Meru peak and back just for relaxation and acclimatization before it gets dark and night, and of course for the sunset view.
Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the Saddle Hut.

Day 3

You'll wake up at middle-night and have a cup of tea before attempting to summit Big Meru Peak. You'll proceed to summit crossing a rocky path where you will have a little celebration while at the Peak, celebrating summit success, having pictures while experiencing the fantastic scenery views of Arusha National Park’s forests, escarpments, and Arusha city from far above, plus that beautiful view of the sunrise. After all, the crew will start descending back to Saddle Hut for a full breakfast.
The day will be spent resting. Lunch, dinner, and overnight stay will be at Saddle Hut.

Day 4

You'll leave Saddle hut and descend to Momella gate via the first hut (Miriakamba), where you will be transferred to Arusha/Moshi.
Note:
Unlike Kilimanjaro, when you are climbing Mount Meru, you have to be escorted by an armed ranger(s) as you pass through the Arusha National Park. It is at this time that you will enjoy the walking safari as you pass the groups/herds of African buffaloes, elephants, zebras, black and white colobus monkey, giraffes, antelopes, hyenas, just a little wildlife to mention.
The Momela and Ngurdoto Lakes are rich in birdlife as you trek to the mountain; birds like pelicans and flamingos are closely seen, too.
