Day 1

Zanzibar to Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Zanzibar to Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your safari adventure starts with an early morning transfer from your Zanzibar hotel to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for a quick domestic flight to Arusha Airport (ARK). Upon arrival, your professional safari guide will greet you and assist with your luggage into a private 4x4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof. Drive southwest across the scenic Maasai Plains to Tarangire National Park, famed for its towering baobab trees and Tanzania's largest population of wild elephants. Enter the park by mid-morning and enjoy an extensive game drive along the Tarangire River, a vital water source that draws dense concentrations of lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and vibrant birdlife. Savor a scenic picnic lunch at a designated viewpoint overlooking the river plains. In the late afternoon, exit the park and drive toward Karatu. Arrive at a top mid-range lodge, such as Marera Valley Lodge or Farm of Dreams Lodge, for a hot shower, delicious dinner, and a peaceful night.

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha to Zanzibar

After an early morning breakfast, depart your lodge and head toward the Loduare Gate of Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Pause at the crater rim viewpoint for stunning panoramic vistas of the 600-meter-deep volcanic caldera before descending into the crater floor for a spectacular 5-hour game drive. As the world's largest unbroken volcanic caldera, Ngorongoro shelters over 30,000 animals in a dense, natural sanctuary. Track the iconic Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, Cape buffalo, and the rare black rhinoceros—alongside grazing zebras, hippos splashing in Lerai Pool, and flamingos along Lake Magadi. Enjoy a packed picnic lunch surrounded by pristine wilderness at the famous hippo pool picnic site. Following lunch and a final wildlife loop, ascend the crater walls and begin your scenic drive back toward Arusha Airport (ARK) for your evening domestic flight to Zanzibar. Upon landing in Zanzibar, a driver will meet you for a smooth transfer back to your beach hotel or resort.
