Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at your lodge or explore the vibrant local culture by visiting places like the colorful Maasai Market or the fascinating Cultural Heritage Centre. It’s the perfect place to unwind and prepare for the unforgettable safari adventure ahead.

Day 2

Journey from Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Journey from Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, your King Mufasa Expeditions safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Arusha and begin the journey to Tarangire National Park, about a two-and-a-half-hour drive on a good tarmac road. The park is named after the life-giving Tarangire River, which attracts large numbers of wildlife, especially during the dry season. Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds, and you may also spot giraffes, bushbuck, hartebeest, and predators such as lions and leopards. The park is also a paradise for bird lovers, with more bird species recorded here than in many other parks. As you explore, you will also admire the iconic baobab trees, some believed to be over a thousand years old. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park before continuing with an afternoon game drive. Later, you will head to your accommodation in Mto wa Mbu to relax and reflect on your first exciting safari day.

After breakfast, you will drive through the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area, ascending to the cooler highlands where you can stop to admire the breathtaking view of the famous Ngorongoro Crater. The journey then continues toward the legendary Serengeti National Park, known for its endless plains and incredible wildlife.

The Serengeti is one of Africa’s most spectacular safari destinations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and many other animals. Depending on the season, you may also witness the world-famous Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebras move across the plains in search of fresh grass and water.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will travel toward the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, located within the beautiful Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Formed around 2–3 million years ago after a massive volcanic eruption and collapse, the crater is one of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife destinations. Surrounded by towering volcanic walls, the crater floor is a rich landscape of open savannah, acacia forests, lakes, and wetlands.

As you descend into the crater, you will begin an unforgettable game drive through this natural wildlife sanctuary. The area is home to large herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelles, and more than 500 bird species. It is also one of the best places in Africa to spot the rare Black Rhinoceros, along with predators such as lions and cheetahs.

After enjoying a picnic lunch and an incredible afternoon of wildlife viewing, you will ascend from the crater and continue to your accommodation in Mto wa Mbu to relax after a truly memorable day.

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a beautiful and diverse park located about 120 km from Arusha at the base of the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment. Though small in size, the park offers an incredible variety of landscapes, from dense evergreen forests to open grasslands and the shallow alkaline lake.

During your game drive, you may see elephants, baboons, giraffes, and the famous tree-climbing lions that make this park unique. The lake is also home to thousands of birds, including flamingos and more than 500 bird species. Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by the park’s natural beauty before continuing your wildlife viewing.

In the afternoon, you will depart the park and return to Arusha or be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey, marking the end of your unforgettable safari adventure.
