Hadzabe & Datoga village visits

Today’s exploration begins at Lake Eyasi with visits to two unique Tanzanian tribes. First, meet the Hadzabe, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer communities in the world, known for their ancient “click” language. You will walk through the bush on foot, spotting birdlife and gaining insight into a way of life that has remained largely unchanged for over 10,000 years.

Next, visit the Datoga tribe, believed to have migrated to the area around 3,000 years ago. Renowned as skilled farmers and craftsmen, the Datoga are also recognized by their distinctive circular facial scarification, traditionally used for beautification.

If you prefer not to visit the Hadzabe, you may opt for a cultural experience in Mto wa Mbu Village. Enjoy a guided village walk, learn about local agriculture including the famous red banana, visit the market, and finish with a traditional local lunch.
