Day 1
Nairobi to Mt Kenya

Duration: 2.5 hours
You'll depart from Nairobi and enjoy a scenic 4-5 hour drive to Chogoria town, the gateway to the Chogoria route. After lunch, you'll meet your experienced guides and porters before taking a 4x4 vehicle to the hike’s starting point, cutting through the lower terrain. You'll begin your Mount Kenya trek through the bamboo forest with a three-hour walk to Meru Mt Kenya Bandas, gaining a 680m ascent. Upon arrival, you'll enjoy dinner and settle in for an overnight stay, preparing for the journey ahead.

Day 2

Hiking Distance: 9 km.
Duration: 3 hours.
After breakfast and sorting of porters' loads, you'll set off up the mountain at an easy pace. This walk give you a scenic view of the Giant billiard table mountain, Ithanguni and Mugi hill. You'll get to the campsite in time for lunch. Later, you'll proceed for fishing at the lake or a nature walk as you acclimatize for the next day long trek.

Day 3
Lake Ellis Camp - Mintos Camp

Hiking Distance: 12 km.
Duration: 5 hours.
You'll leave the camp after breakfast off the beaten track to follow a ridge up the mountain for at least 2.5 hours. Eventually, you will join the normal route ascending from Roadhead camp. You'll enjoy the breathtaking view over the Gorges valley and back over towards Ithanguni and the northern moorlands. Lunch will be served along the way before getting to Minto’s camp. You'll spend the rest of your afternoon relaxing and refreshing for the next day's summit attempt. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the camp.

Day 4

Hiking Distance: 24 km.
Duration: 15 hours.
The predawn attempt at the summit starts in the wee hours of the morning. Your hike takes up to three hours to the summit, arriving just minutes before sunrise. You'll descend to Shipton camp for breakfast and later proceed for a 5-hour trek to Old Moses camp, traversing through the majestic Mackinder’s valley. The descent is gentle and it offers ample time to enjoy fascinating scenery, which includes the moorland, before reaching the camp in the evening for evening tea and dinner.

Day 5
Old Moses Camp - Sirimon Gate - Nairobi

Hiking Distance: 8 km.
Duration: 2 hours.
After an early morning breakfast, you'll descend for 3 hours to the Sirimon park gate to catch a vehicle for a transfer back to Nairobi or airport to board your flight back home.
