Day 1

Mombasa/Diani/Watamu to Tsavo East National Park

Mombasa/Diani/Watamu to Tsavo East National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Mombasa, Diani, Watamu, or Malindi. From the beach, you’ll head inland by road, passing through local villages and open countryside as you make your way to Tsavo East National Park. Entering through one of the main gates—such as Bachuma or Sala Gate—you’ll immediately begin your first game drive, spotting wildlife en route to your lodge or camp.

Tsavo East is famous for its “red elephants,” so named for the reddish dust they bathe in. You may also see zebras, giraffes, lions, buffalos, and a variety of antelope and bird species. After checking in at your lodge or camp, enjoy lunch and some time to relax. In the late afternoon, head out on another game drive as the animals become more active during the cooler hours.

Return to your lodge at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay, surrounded by the natural sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 2

Explore Tsavo East

Explore Tsavo East

Wake up early and enjoy a sunrise game drive, one of the best times to spot predators and grazing herbivores as they begin their day. Return to the lodge for breakfast and some downtime. Later, set out for a mid-morning and afternoon game drive, with visits to key attractions such as Aruba Dam, a popular gathering place for animals, and Mudanda Rock, a massive granite outcrop offering panoramic views and excellent photo opportunities.

Keep an eye out for lions lounging in the shade, herds of elephants on the move, and flocks of birds circling the skies. A picnic lunch may be arranged inside the park or you’ll return to the lodge for meals, depending on your schedule.

In the evening, relax at the lodge and enjoy dinner under the stars, perhaps with the distant calls of hyenas or lions in the background.
