Coastal Departure – Journey to Tsavo West National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your beach hotel in Mombasa, Diani, or Watamu. The scenic drive inland takes you through local villages and vast savannah landscapes as you head toward Tsavo West National Park.
Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge/camp, keeping an eye out for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and antelope species. Tsavo West’s rugged terrain is dramatically different from other parks, featuring lava flows, rocky ridges, and dense bush.
After checking in and having lunch at your lodge, you’ll set out on an afternoon game drive. A key highlight is a visit to Mzima Springs, a crystal-clear oasis fed by underground water from the Chyulu Hills. Here, you can observe hippos, crocodiles, and fish from a submerged viewing chamber. You’ll continue exploring the park's diverse habitats before returning to your lodge at sunset.
Dinner is served at the lodge or camp, where you can relax and listen to the sounds of the African night.

Morning Game Drive – Return to the Coast

Wake up early for a pre-breakfast game drive when wildlife is most active. This is a great time to look for predators such as lions or leopards, often seen near the waterholes or rocky outcrops. The soft morning light also offers excellent photography opportunities, with Mount Kilimanjaro sometimes visible in the distance on a clear day.

After breakfast back at the lodge, you'll check out and begin your return journey to the coast. Enjoy a final game drive as you exit the park, taking in the last views of Tsavo’s volcanic landscapes and iconic wildlife.

Arrive back at your beach hotel in Mombasa, Diani, or Watamu in the late afternoon, ending your short but memorable safari escape.
