Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve

Your driver-guide will pick you up either from your booked hotel in Nairobi or immediately upon landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. You will start your journey to the Masai Mara early in the morning. On your way to the national reserve, you will drive through the Rift Valley escarpment, where you can enjoy a short stopover for photography and to take in the scenic views of the valley. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will check in and be welcomed by the team, enjoy entertainment from local Maasai men and women, and have lunch. Afterwards, embark on an evening game drive in the Masai Mara in search of wildlife species such as the “Big Five:” elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards, and rhinos. You will watch the sunset as your guide drives you back to your hotel or camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

Masai Mara National Reserve

Wake up early, eat breakfast, pack your lunch box, and then drive back into the park to spend the whole day on a game drive. You will have clear views of the wildlife and landscape from your open-roof vehicle. The experience will offer you sightings of the “Big Five” mammals, including buffaloes, leopards, lions, rhinos, and elephants. You will also have the chance to see giraffes, cheetahs, jackals, and wildebeests.

The morning game drive offers an excellent opportunity to witness rare predators like lions and cheetahs making a kill. Be sure to take photos to capture this memorable experience. Your guide will take you to the Mara River, where you can watch animals coming to drink along the riverbanks in the early afternoon. This river is also the site of the famous annual Great Migration.

In between game drives, you will have a picnic lunch surrounded by beautiful nature and wildlife. Do not attempt to feed the animals, especially baboons and monkeys, while having lunch.

Masai Mara National Reserve - Nairobi

Wake up early, eat breakfast, and get ready for your driver to take you on a final game drive (depending on your flight time, you may be transferred immediately to Nairobi instead). The game drive can be done on the Masai Mara plains to catch predators hunting once again. Look out for lions, ostriches, crested cranes, giraffes, jackals, and hyenas. The Masai Mara is one of the few places where you can still see wild rhinos roaming freely.

After the game drive, you will return to the hotel for checkout (if it wasn’t done earlier). Your driver-guide will then begin the journey back to your hotel in Nairobi or to the airport. Along the way, there will be opportunities to shop and visit local artisan markets. The driver will drop you at your booked residence, hotel, or the airport. This marks the end of your three-day safari in the great Masai Mara National Reserve.
