Nairobi – Voi SGR – Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

Your safari begins early in the morning as you make your own way to Nairobi SGR Terminus to catch the Madaraka Express train to Voi. The journey offers scenic views of Kenya’s countryside and lasts approximately 4–5 hours. Upon arrival at Voi SGR Station, you will be met by a representative who will transfer you by road to the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, a private conservancy nestled at the edge of Tsavo West.

Check in at the Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa. After a refreshing welcome drink and check-in, enjoy a delicious lunch at the resort’s restaurant.

In the afternoon, head out for your first shared game drive in the sanctuary. The 28,000-acre sanctuary is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and numerous bird species. The drive offers stunning views of the rolling Taita Hills and dramatic volcanic landscapes. After your game drive, return to the resort for a relaxing evening.

Begin your day with an early morning wake-up call for a sunrise game drive, the best time to witness animals as they are most active before the heat of the day sets in. Enjoy watching predators on the move and herbivores gathering at waterholes, with the cool morning air adding to the adventure.

Return to the lodge for a hearty buffet breakfast, after which you’ll have time to relax, take in the views, or explore the grounds at your leisure. You’ll then check out and be transferred back to Voi SGR Station in time to catch your afternoon train back to Nairobi.
