Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive

Your adventure begins as you drive through the misty Ngorongoro highlands, passing Maasai villages and lush forests on the way to the famous crater rim. The first view into the caldera is unforgettable—an enormous natural bowl alive with wildlife. You descend the steep walls and spend the day exploring this unique ecosystem, home to lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, hippos, and the rare black rhino. The landscapes shift from open grasslands to acacia forests and lakes filled with flamingos. A picnic lunch is enjoyed in a safe, scenic spot surrounded by nature. In the afternoon, you continue your game drive as the animals become more active in the cooler light. After an impressive day of wildlife viewing, you ascend back to the rim and head to your lodge in Karatu or the crater highlands for dinner and overnight rest.

Crater Rim Walk, Banana & Coffee Experience in Mto wa Mbu

Your morning begins with fresh highland air as you set out for a guided crater rim walk alongside an armed ranger and Maasai guide. The trail offers peaceful forest paths, sweeping viewpoints, and fascinating insights into local plants, animal behavior, and Maasai traditions. After the walk, descend toward the Great Rift Valley and arrive in the vibrant farming village of Mto wa Mbu. Here, you explore extensive banana plantations, learning about many varieties and their uses, from food to traditional banana beer. Next, visit a small coffee farm for a hands-on experience—picking ripe cherries, roasting beans over an open fire, grinding them by hand, and enjoying a fresh, flavorful cup. You may add a village tour, market visit, or local lunch before returning to your destination later on transfer to Arusha town.
