Arusha to Tarangire National Park

In the early morning, following breakfast, we will set off for Tarangire National Park. The park gets its name from the Tarangire River, which flows through the area. This 'river of warthogs' is the sole water source for wildlife in the region during the dry season. In certain areas, the vegetation is quite thick, featuring elephant grass, acacia woodlands, and lush groundwater forests. Tarangire is renowned for its elephant herds, which are frequently seen gathering near the river. You may also spot giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, with predators like lions and leopards not far behind. Tarangire boasts more bird species breeding here than anywhere else on Earth!

After lunch and a thorough game drive, we will proceed to our luxurious partner lodges near Lake Manyara National Park for dinner and an overnight stay.

Lake Manyara National Park

Early in the morning, following breakfast, we will set off for Lake Manyara National Park, a pristine haven renowned for its rich birdlife and the unique tree-climbing lions. The park is bordered to the west by the striking Rift Valley escarpment, while to the east lies the shallow, alkaline Lake Manyara. The name "Manyara" originates from the Maasai word ‘emanyara,’ which refers to a plant commonly used to construct protective barriers around family homes (bomas). The park features a variety of landscapes, from open savannah to lush evergreen forests. As you explore, you may encounter giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, and, with some luck, spot lions resting in the trees.
