Nairobi – Voi – Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

Your safari begins with an early morning report to the SGR Nairobi Terminus. Please note that transfers to the station are at your own arrangement and cost. You'll board the Madaraka Express train for a scenic journey to Voi, located in southeastern Kenya. The ride offers beautiful views of the Kenyan countryside and lasts approximately 4.5 hours.
Upon arrival at Voi SGR Station, you’ll be met by a representative from the lodge and transferred to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. After check-in at either Taita Hills Safari Resort or the iconic Salt Lick Safari Lodge, enjoy a delicious lunch followed by time to unwind.
Later in the afternoon, head out on your first game drive in the sanctuary. This private conservancy offers a serene and intimate wildlife experience, home to elephants, lions, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, and a variety of bird species. Return to your lodge at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay, where you may spot wildlife gathering at the lodge’s nearby waterholes.

Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

Start your day with an early morning game drive, when wildlife activity is highest. Watch for predators returning from their night hunts and herbivores grazing as the sun rises. Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and spend the late morning at leisure—enjoy the views, relax by the lodge, or take in the peaceful atmosphere of the sanctuary.

After lunch, head out for an afternoon game drive, exploring new parts of the conservancy and tracking more wildlife. Taita Hills’ diverse landscape—rolling hills, open plains, and pockets of acacia woodland—offers excellent photographic opportunities. Return in the evening for dinner and your second overnight stay.

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, then check out and transfer back to Voi SGR Station for your return train to Nairobi. The journey back offers one last glimpse of Kenya’s scenic countryside.

Upon arrival at Nairobi Terminus, your tour concludes. Please note: transfers from the train station back to your hotel or residence are at your own arrangement and cost.
