On Day 2, the journey continues north via the Mount Kenya region and Laikipia plateau to Samburu National Reserve. An afternoon game drive introduces you to the famous “Samburu Special Five”—reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and the long-necked gerenuk. The rugged terrain and Ewaso Nyiro River create a striking backdrop for wildlife encounters.

Third day is dedicated to exploring Samburu in depth. Early Morning and afternoon game drives increase your chances of spotting lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and even wild dogs. You return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation—perhaps a swim or time to enjoy the views from your camp. In the afternoon, another game drive takes you deeper into the reserve’s varied habitats, from acacia woodlands to open savannah. This is when you’re most likely to encounter the Samburu Special Five again, along with herds of impala and buffalo.
