Arusha – Tarangire National Park

You will begin your morning with a drive to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is known for its high concentration of elephants and is the perfect place to experience these majestic animals up close. Its landscape, dotted with large baobab trees and home to many bird species, offers stunning views. The Tarangire River, the only permanent water source in the area, attracts thousands of wild animals during the dry season. In the evening, you will transfer to your lodge outside the park.

Day 2

Mto wa Mbu – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will travel via the cooler highlands toward the southern Serengeti. By midday, you will reach the plains of Serengeti National Park. This is the largest park in Tanzania and features a variety of habitats and landscapes—short grass plains, savannah, thick bush, swamps, and lakes. Bizarre rock formations called kopjes dot the grassy landscape, where predators are often seen. The Serengeti is famous for the annual Great Migration when hundreds of thousands of wildebeests and zebras move in search of fresh grass and water. In the evening, you will transfer to your lodge inside the park.

On your outward journey to the park gate, you will enjoy more game viewing before leaving Serengeti National Park in the early afternoon to continue your journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you may also see a Maasai boma and observe aspects of their traditional life. You will stay at a lodge located on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 4

After breakfast, you will descend 600 meters into the crater for a game drive. This massive collapsed volcano is home to over 25,000 mammals, including the “Big Five:” lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard, as well as spotted hyenas, rare warthogs, and some of the more than 500 bird species found in the area. After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch at the hippo pool, you will spend a few more hours enjoying this fascinating natural treasure before being transferred by road to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home or for your onward extension journey to Zanzibar.
