Pause for a picnic lunch under the shade of an ancient baobab tree before continuing your wildlife search into the afternoon.

Wake up early for breakfast before making the short drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend 600 meters down the steep walls into the world-famous volcanic caldera by 7:00 AM, beating the midday heat and heavy vehicle crowds when predators are most active.
Spend 5 to 6 hours exploring the diverse habitats of the crater floor. This enclosed ecosystem offers an unparalleled chance to spot the endangered black rhino, completing your Big Five checklist. Search for prides of lions, hyenas, jackals, and hippos cooling off in the pools. Watch thousands of flamingos color the shores of Lake Magadi pink.
