Day 2

After breakfast, your assigned driver-guide will pick you up from the hotel and set off on a scenic drive to Murchison Falls National Park. This remarkable park is famed for the thunderous rapids of the Murchison Falls and the vast rolling plains of Uganda’s largest national park, where you will encounter lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffaloes, and elephants. The impressive concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles along the river are sure to leave you fascinated.

En route, you will visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for your first Big Five experience, enjoying an unforgettable one-hour rhino tracking excursion on foot. A lunch stop will be made in Masindi before continuing to the park. Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation and spend the evening relaxing as you soak in the wilderness atmosphere.

Day 3

Enjoy breakfast before departing for an early morning game drive across the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest National Park. Keep watch for wildlife such as lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and the elusive leopard, which may be spotted with a bit of luck. Bird enthusiasts will also be delighted by the rich variety of birdlife encountered during the drive.

Return to the lodge for some rest and lunch. If you wish, you may opt for a hot air balloon safari instead of the game drive, available at an additional cost and arranged on the ground.

In the afternoon, head out for a memorable boat cruise to the base of Murchison Falls, offering excellent opportunities to see hippos, Nile crocodiles, and a wide array of water birds at close range. Afterwards, you may choose to hike to the top of the falls. While the hike can be challenging, the reward is a beautiful view and an experience you will never forget.

After breakfast at your accommodation, depart for Kibale Forest National Park. Although the drive is long, it is exceptionally scenic, taking you through traditional villages, lush green countryside, and rolling hills blanketed with tea plantations that define this beautiful region of Uganda. The ever-changing landscapes make the journey as rewarding as the destination.

Kibale National Park is renowned for its rich primate population, most notably chimpanzees, as well as black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and the Uganda mangabey (Lophocebus ugandae). During your chimpanzee trekking experience, you will observe these fascinating primates swinging through the forest canopy and feeding on wild fruits in their natural habitat. Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation, where you will enjoy dinner and a well-deserved overnight rest.

After breakfast, proceed to the rangers’ post for a comprehensive briefing on the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. You will then set off into the lush Kibale Forest, accompanied by an experienced ranger guide, for an unforgettable chimpanzee tracking experience. The forest is alive with primates, and the moment you encounter the chimpanzees in their natural habitat is truly awe-inspiring. Once located, you will enjoy a full hour observing them as they interact, feed, and swing through the forest canopy.

Return to the lodge for lunch before continuing your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Arrive in the evening and check in to your booked accommodation, where you will settle in for a relaxing overnight stay.

Rise early for breakfast, then set out on a morning game drive across the Kasenyi Plains. This area offers excellent wildlife viewing, with chances to see Cape buffaloes, large herds of elephants, and predators such as lions and, with some luck, the elusive leopard.

After the drive, return to your accommodation for time to relax and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a memorable two-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, the natural waterway linking Lakes George and Edward. The cruise provides outstanding views of wildlife, including massive hippos, elephants, and Nile crocodiles, as well as a rich variety of birdlife along the shores. Later, return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, traveling through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, an area famously known for its resident tree-climbing lions. There is about a 70% chance of spotting these unique lions, although they can sometimes be difficult to see, especially when they descend into the grasslands in search of prey. Should you be lucky, the sight is truly spectacular. Continue onward to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of Uganda’s most remarkable natural treasures and a vital sanctuary for mountain gorillas. Bwindi is home to an estimated 400 mountain gorillas, roughly half of the world’s remaining population, including several habituated families available for trekking.

Given the long and demanding journey, your activities upon arrival will be minimal. You will simply check in to your accommodation, relax, and rest in preparation for the once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience awaiting you the following day.

After breakfast, proceed to the rangers’ post for a briefing by a ranger guide on the dos and don’ts of trekking. You will then enter the gorilla sanctuary for an extraordinary adventure. The forest is breathtakingly beautiful, with steep, densely vegetated slopes interlaced with numerous animal trails that make access possible. Trekking time and terrain vary depending on the movements of these magnificent primates. Once you locate a gorilla family, you will be allowed a full hour in their presence. Watching these gentle, endangered giants up close in their natural habitat is a deeply moving and unforgettable experience.

After the trek, return for lunch before driving onward to Lake Bunyonyi. The lake is surrounded by lush, terraced green hills rising to elevations of about 2,200 to 2,478 meters. Its true charm lies in the 29 islands of varying shapes and sizes scattered across the calm waters, creating a magical landscape that invites endless admiration.

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your accommodation, taking in the spectacular views of Lake Bunyonyi’s charming little islands spread out before you. Afterwards, begin your scenic return journey to Entebbe International Airport.

Along the way, you will stop for lunch and make a memorable visit to the Uganda Equator line in Kayabwe, where you can take photos and browse a selection of local art and crafts. Continue with the drive, arriving in Entebbe in the late afternoon or evening for drop-off at the airport in time for your onward flight home.
