Once formalities are complete, the hike begins through the lush rainforest on the lower slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro.

The day begins with an early breakfast before you depart Mandara Hut and continue the ascent. You gradually leave the forest behind and reach the timberline, where the landscape opens into heath and moorland. Vegetation becomes sparser, with shrubs and hardy plants adapted to higher altitudes.
The hike to Horombo Hut takes about 4 to 6 hours and ends at an altitude of 3,700m/12,140ft. Along the way, you enjoy wide views, and as you approach the hut, Mawenzi and Kibo come into view, with the Masai steppe stretching out below.
On arrival at Horombo Hut, there is time to rest and take in the surrounding scenery.

Today’s stage of the climb is long and demanding. The trail begins with a steady ascent along a well-defined path, passing the last water point, the final reliable water source before the summit. From here, the route continues across the Saddle, a wide, barren plateau that lies between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi.
The day’s destination is Kibo Hut, located at around 4,700m/15,420ft. The hike takes approximately 5 to 6 hours and covers 9,5km/5,9mi. Although the climb is challenging, it brings you significantly closer to the summit.
On arrival at Kibo Hut, you are served an early dinner before turning in for the night to rest ahead of the summit attempt.
