Arusha town to Park's gate to Miriakamba Hut (2470 m

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha and transferred to Arusha National Park, where your Mount Meru adventure begins. After entering the park, you will start the trek accompanied by an armed ranger for safety, as wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and other animals can be encountered along the route. Your guide and porters will carry the equipment, food, and other supplies as you gradually ascend through the beautiful forest toward Miriakamba Camp at 2,470 metres.
The trek offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography, with animals often seen grazing near the trail. Upon arrival at Miriakamba Camp, settle into your bunk bed and enjoy the clean facilities and peaceful mountain surroundings. On a clear day, you may also enjoy spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

After breakfast, begin the steep ascent from Miriakamba Hut at 2,470 metres toward Saddle Hut at 3,500 metres. The trail takes you through beautiful montane forest and into the heather zone, with changing landscapes and impressive views of Mount Meru along the way. Stop halfway for a short rest and lunch while enjoying the spectacular mountain scenery.
Upon reaching Saddle Hut, you can relax and recover from the day’s climb or take an optional hike to Little Meru, where you can enjoy breathtaking views and capture beautiful sunset photographs. After dinner, prepare your equipment and get some rest in readiness for the midnight climb to Socialist Peak at 4,562 metres.

Saddle Hut – Socialist Peak – Miriakamba

Around midnight, begin your summit ascent from Saddle Hut toward Socialist Peak at 4,562 metres. Trek through the quiet darkness and cold mountain air as you gradually climb toward the summit. The trail is generally well-maintained, with steps helping you navigate the steeper rocky sections. Near the summit, you will cross an exposed but manageable knife-edge ridge, with dramatic drops on either side.
Upon reaching Socialist Peak, take time to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views and capture memorable summit photographs. Afterward, begin the descent carefully, as the steep sections can be demanding. Continue back to Miriakamba Hut at 2,470 metres, where you can enjoy a well-deserved rest after your summit achievement. Hikers with enough energy may choose to continue to the park gate, marking the end of an unforgettable Mount Meru adventure.

Miriakamba Hut – Arusha National Park – Arusha

After breakfast, begin the final descent from Miriakamba Hut at 2,470 meters toward the park gate. This short and relaxing day offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography as you make your way through the park. Enjoy a half-day game drive around Momela Lakes and Ngurdoto Crater, with chances to spot buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, and other wildlife.
After exploring the park, continue to the gate and transfer back to Arusha town. Celebrate the successful completion of your Mount Meru adventure with a cold drink. You will then be transferred to the airport for the flight back home, or we can arrange the accommodation upon request.
