Nairobi to Samburu – Afternoon Game Drive

Begin your adventure with an early morning departure from Nairobi in a comfortable 4x4 safari vehicle. Enjoy a scenic drive (approx. 6–7 hours) passing through lush central Kenya, crossing the equator at Nanyuki, and continuing into the drier, dramatic landscapes of northern Kenya. Arrive at Samburu Simba Lodge, located near the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, in time for lunch. After a short rest, head out on an afternoon game drive, where you’ll have your first chance to spot the Samburu Special Five along with elephants, lions, and unique birdlife. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Full Day of Game Drives in Samburu

After an early breakfast, set out on a morning game drive to explore deeper into Samburu National Reserve. This lesser-visited gem offers excellent sightings without the crowds—watch for leopards lounging in acacias or herds of elephants by the river. Return to the lodge for lunch and a break by the pool or terrace. Later, head out for another game drive in the late afternoon, perfect for catching golden-hour wildlife photography and cultural visit to a Samburu village.

Return to Nairobi
