After breakfast, your journey continues up the Ngorongoro highlands, where you’ll stop at the crater rim for breathtaking views of the Ngorongoro Crater below and the endless plains of Serengeti stretching beyond. The word “Serengeti” means “endless plain” in Maasai, and it lives up to its name—home to over 2 million wildebeest and countless other species.

From January to April, the plains come alive with newborns, as wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles give birth, attracting predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. The area also supports a wide range of smaller animals, including bat-eared foxes, mongooses, jackals, monkeys, and rock hyraxes, along with over 500 bird species. After an exciting day of wildlife viewing, return to your tented camp for dinner and a restful overnight stay under the stars of the Serengeti.

After this breathtaking start to the day, return to camp for breakfast, check out, and begin your journey to the Ngorongoro Crater.
