The journey from Antananarivo to Miandrivazo takes you through a scenic and dynamic stretch of Madagascar’s central highlands. Starting in the capital, Antananarivo, the road winds through lush green hills and terraced rice fields, offering stunning views of the countryside. As you drive south, the landscape gradually transitions from the cooler highlands to the warmer, more arid lowlands.

Upon arrival in Miandrivazo, a laid-back town on the banks of the Tsiribihina River, you’ll be greeted by a more relaxed pace of life, offering a perfect starting point for exploring the nearby river or continuing your journey deeper into Madagascar’s wilderness.

This is a rare opportunity to spot nocturnal wildlife including the legendary fossa, Madagascar’s top predator, and the tiniest of lemurs darting through the branches, the elusive giant jumping rat, and various chameleons that come alive after dark.

Relaxing in Morondava is the perfect way to unwind after an adventurous descent of the Tsiribihina River. This laid-back coastal town on Madagascar’s west coast offers a mix of beachside charm, cultural experiences, and easy access to iconic sights.

The legendary Avenue of the Baobabs is a must-see, especially at sunset when the trees cast long, dramatic shadows.
