Your safari begins in Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant and welcoming capital city. After meeting your driver-guide, you will start the day with a guided visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, an emotional and educational site that pays tribute to the lives lost during the tragic events of 1994. Here you will learn about Rwanda’s history, resilience, and journey toward peace. After this moving experience, enjoy a scenic road transfer that takes you through Rwanda’s rolling hills, often called the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” and across the border into Uganda. The drive offers endless opportunities to admire rural villages, farmlands, and mountain vistas. By late afternoon, you will arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Check into your lodge nestled at the forest’s edge, enjoy a hearty dinner, and rest as you prepare for the incredible gorilla trekking adventure awaiting you the next day.

Day 2

Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Cultural Experience
After an early breakfast, transfer to the Bwindi park headquarters where you will join other trekkers for a detailed briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette and safety. With your ranger guides, set out on foot into the dense and misty rainforest, following trails that lead deep into the gorillas’ natural habitat. The trek can take several hours depending on the gorillas’ movements, but the reward is immense. Once you find the gorilla family, you are granted a precious hour to quietly observe them feeding, grooming, and playing. Watching the gentle giants in their natural setting is one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences in the world.
After your lunch and some rest, your evening is dedicated to a cultural encounter with the Batwa community. The Batwa will share their traditions, music, dances, and storytelling, giving you insight into their unique way of life and deep connection to the forest. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3

Wake up to the sounds of Bwindi before enjoying breakfast at your lodge. Today, you will depart for Lake Bunyonyi, a short but scenic drive through Uganda’s beautiful highlands. Known as the “Lake of a Thousand Islands,” Bunyonyi is famous for its serene waters dotted with 29 islands, each with unique legends and cultural stories. On arrival, check into your lodge overlooking the lake and enjoy lunch with panoramic views.
In the afternoon, embark on a traditional canoe ride, paddling between the islands as your guide shares stories about their history, from the infamous Punishment Island to other fascinating sites. Along the way, you may spot abundant birdlife since Bunyonyi is a paradise for birdwatchers, with over 200 species recorded. The canoe ride offers stunning photography opportunities, peaceful exploration, and a chance to soak in the tranquility of Uganda’s most beautiful lake. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner, relaxation, and a calm overnight stay.

Return to Rwanda & Departure
After breakfast at Lake Bunyonyi, begin your scenic journey back to Rwanda through lush hills and valleys. Stop for photos or short breaks along the way. Cross the border into Kigali and, time permitting, visit local markets or enjoy a farewell meal. Your driver-guide will drop you at Kigali International Airport for your return back home.
