Kigoma, situated in the Western Province of Tanzania, is a laidback and attractive little town. The streets are lined up with small stores and street traders. Touring around the fish markets, shops and stall keeps you occupied for the day. It was to Kigoma that the legendary steamer, the MV Liemba, was brought by rail by the Germans during the World War I and assembled there, before being used as a military expedition ship against the British forces. It is also the last place where an emissary was sent to trace the whereabouts of the great scientist, missionary and explorer, Dr Livingstone. The Kigoma Hilltop Hotel has a lot to offer during your leisure time such as bird watching, tennis court, swimming pool, gym, private beach and a variety of water sports activities.

Chimpanzee trekking in Gombe

After breakfast, boat transfer from Kigoma Hilltop Lodge to Gombe Stream National Park for a day trip safari.

Chimpanzee trekking in Gombe Stream National Park is an activity that includes walking through the forested park in search for the allocated chimpanzee family. Track and observe wild chimpanzees; crouching low, you can watch them grooming, drinking and playing. The treks last about three hours and include a maximum of one hour with the chimps, during which you can expect to see them from a safe but intimate distance of 8-10 metres. Get up close and personal with the chimpanzees and discover their beauty, intelligence, and social structures. Return to Kigoma Hilltop for bed and breakfast.
