Your adventure begins with an early morning Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) journey from Nairobi to Voi. As the train glides through Kenya’s rolling countryside, enjoy views of open savannah, rural villages, and, with luck, wildlife along the way. Upon arrival at Voi Station, meet your driver for a scenic transfer to the iconic Salt Lick Safari Lodge, famous for its elevated rooms overlooking a busy waterhole.

After check-in and a leisurely lunch, take some time to relax and soak in panoramic views of the Taita Hills. In the late afternoon, embark on your first game drive in the sanctuary, where elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and other wildlife roam freely. Return to the lodge for dinner and spend the evening watching animals gather at the waterhole from the comfort of the observation deck or your room.

Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

Rise early for a sunrise game drive, the golden hour when predators are on the move and the plains come alive. Watch elephants, zebras, and giraffes bathed in morning light before returning to the lodge for breakfast.

Later, explore more of the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. Choose a guided nature walk or a birdwatching tour to discover the smaller wonders often missed on game drives. You may also visit the Taita Hills Cultural Museum to learn about the region’s history and conservation efforts.

Return to the lodge for lunch and enjoy the afternoon at leisure—relax by the pool or watch wildlife at the waterhole. In the evening, set out for another game drive, exploring new areas or revisiting promising wildlife spots. Return for dinner and a peaceful night at the lodge.

Arrive at Voi Station and board the SGR train for your journey back to Nairobi. As the train glides through the countryside, reflect on the unforgettable wildlife encounters and breathtaking landscapes of your safari. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel or onward destination.
