Arrival - Johannesburg

After breakfast at our centrally located hotel, we’ll start the drive north towards Mapesu Private Game Reserve. We’ll have a few breaks along the way as we leave the main centre of South Africa and head for the bushveld areas on the Botswana border. On arrival at Mapesu, we’ll get out into the reserve for our first taste of the wilderness.

Mapesu Private Game Reserve

We're up early to make the most of our first full day exploring Mapesu. The open plains of this private reserve are a great opportunity to spot wildlife and perhaps even the cheetah that lay below the trees. Our first coffee stop out in the bush will give us the energy for our return ride. After a relaxing afternoon, we’ll head back out on a drive or walk to see what the evening viewing has to offer.

Botswana - Harena River Camp

We’re up early as we head for Botswana and the Pont Drift border post. We’ll cross by bike and are immediately in the wilds of Botswana. We’ll head along the gravel roads between the game reserves heading for Harena in Central Tuli. Tonight we’ll have the Limpopo River as our companion after a longer days ride.

Botswana - Harena River Camp

The Harena area of Central Tuli offers exciting game viewing opportunities. The area around the river is loved by the plains game as well as the local lion pride that hunts them. We’ll take it slow as we explore the rocky outcrops and dry river beds. In the afternoon we relax along the banks of the Limpopo river.

Harena Trail Camp

After breakfast we make our way north on our way to the remote Harena Trails Camp. An amazing experience of our exclusive trails camp hidden away in a remote corner of the reserve. With just us for miles around, we’ll enjoy an afternoon under the trees. The evening campfire will be fulled with the sounds of lions and hyenas.

Harena Trail Camp

Located further north, Harena Trails camp gives us access beyond the Central Tuli Reserve. We’ll head through the boundaries and to Mathathane. This village is home to many who work and live in the reserve and gives us a taste of authentic Botswana life. After a quick refreshment, we’ll head back into the reserve for a second night at our private trail camp.

Koro Island Camp

After a warm cup of coffee we head back south towards the Limpopo River, but this time further west to Koro Island Camp. We’ll pass the salt pans that are loved by elephant as the open areas make way to the rocky outcrops. We’ll stop for a break at one of the natural springs before we descend to the river and meander along the beautiful paths of the Limpopo to the exclusive Island Camp.

Koro Island Camp

We’ll wake up on our private island in the Limpopo before we head out to explore the Koro conservancy. The elephant paths and jeep tracks take us between the waterholes and viewpoints to our bush breakfast spot. From here, we descend back down to the flowing paths beneath the giant Mashatu trees. After a relaxing afternoon, we’re off for a special sundowner on our last Botswana evening.

We love getting in one more ride before we depart. A quick coffee and we’re off for a final loop of the Central Tuli Reserve. Then it’s time for our journey back into South Africa as we cross the Platjan border post.
