Upon arrival at the airport (Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha) you will be met by The Habitat Adventures Travel’s representative and drive you to your accommodation in Arusha for overnight stay waiting for your adventures to start on the following day.

Day 2

Arusha to Tarangire National Park (approximately 149 km (926 mi) & 25hrs drive)

Early morning after breakfast at your accommodation in Arusha, you will be picked up by your private driver guide and take you straight to Tarangire which takes approximately 2 hours. Tarangire is one of the largest parks of Tanzania that covers an area of 2,600 square kilometres. It also has a mini-wildlife migration that takes place during the dry season which consists of about 250,000 animals enter the park. More than 300-strong herds of elephant, visitors will find big groups of buffalo and healthy populations of lions and leopards. During the dry season, Tarangire has the highest concentration of mammals in the country. There are wild dogs and rare antelopes such as gerenuk, plus more than 550 species of birds to spot throughout the year. You will have picnic lunch boxes where you will have them inside the park in the afternoon. After lunch and further game viewing, you will drive straight to your accommodation in Karatu for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Ngorongoro Crater to Karatu

Ngorongoro Crater to Karatu

Early morning after breakfast at your accommodation, you will drive straight to Ngorongoro conservation area whereby you stop at the view point of Ngorongoro crater before you descend down the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera forming a spectacular bowl of about 265 square kilometres, with sides up to 600 metres deep and is home to approximately 30,000 mammals.
The crater offers a breathtakingly beautiful scenery and is the best place in East Africa to see the ‘Big Five’ (elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, lion and rarely leopard). Any safari in northern Tanzania should ideally include a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater offers excellent birding, with over 500 species. You will have packed picnic lunch boxes with you and after having lunch at the picnic site, you will proceed with game drive until the late afternoon where you will ascend the crater and drive straight to your accommodation in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast in Karatu, you will drive to Mto wa Mbu, a lively village known for its mix of cultures. Here, you will enjoy a guided cultural tour where you can visit local farms, taste fresh banana beer, see traditional homes, and meet local artisans. You may also enjoy a local lunch prepared by a women’s group. After the activities, you will drive to Arusha, passing through scenic landscapes and villages. Arrive in Arusha in the evening and check in to your hotel for overnight rest.

Day 5

Arusha to Materuni Waterfalls

After breakfast in Arusha, you will drive to Materuni village at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. From there, take a short guided hike through lush green forest to the beautiful Materuni Waterfalls. Enjoy the fresh air and cool mist as you relax by the falls. After the hike, visit a local coffee farm, learn how coffee is made, and take part in the process from bean to cup. Later in the afternoon, drive back to Arusha and spend the night at your hotel.

MKomazi National Park

After an early breakfast, you will drive to Mkomazi National Park for a full day of wildlife adventure. Mkomazi is a quiet and beautiful park, home to animals like elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and many kinds of birds. You will enjoy a game drive through the park’s open plains and scenic hills. If available, you can also visit the rhino sanctuary to learn about efforts to protect the endangered black rhino. In the afternoon, take a break and enjoy a picnic lunch in nature. After more game viewing, you will drive back and relax at your lodge or hotel near the park for overnight.
