Exploring Tarangire (Elephant Herds)

Exploring Tarangire (Elephant Herds)

After breakfast, the safari begins with a brief stop in Arusha for any last-minute purchases. We then depart for Tarangire National Park, a scenic drive of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Upon arrival, enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch inside the park.

Tarangire is renowned for its iconic baobab trees, vast open landscapes, and one of the largest concentrations of elephants in Tanzania. What makes Tarangire truly unique is its permanent river, which serves as a critical water source during the dry season and draws an incredible diversity of wildlife. The park is a vital corridor in the annual migration, supporting up to 3,000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeests, and 30,000 zebras. This rich ecosystem offers exceptional game viewing and a more tranquil experience compared to more crowded parks.

Ngorongoro crater - The home of big five

After an early breakfast at Ngare Lodge, you will depart for the Ngorongoro Crater a drive of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arrival, you will descend over 600 meters into the crater for a truly unforgettable wildlife experience. Often referred to as the Eighth Natural Wonder of the World, the crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and boasts incredibly rich biodiversity within its walls.

Sustained by a permanent water source and lush grazing grounds, the Ngorongoro Crater supports a variety of wildlife. Here, you’ll have the chance to spot large herds of wildebeest, zebras, buffalos, elands, warthogs, hippos, and the iconic African elephants. The crater is also one of the best places in Africa to see the rare black rhino in its natural habitat, along with an impressive density of predators including lions and hyenas.

In the afternoon, following your game drive and picnic lunch, you’ll begin the scenic transfer back to Arusha, arriving in the early evening.
