Morning Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Bwindi Forest
Be up early and have your breakfast. Together with your guide you will proceed for an adventurous chimpanzee trekking experience in Kyambura gorge. The first task is to go down 200 meters to the river in the valley. Chimps are very vocal and their location can be identified by following their hoots and distant cries. In case they are quiet, their footprints (in mud) and poop can help you to locate them.
Once you locate them, you will be able to watch them play or sometimes breastfeed, mate, rest and even fight. The chimps in Kyambura Gorge get so close to visitors and this allows for great photos from a close distance.
You will have an opportunity to spot rare vegetation and tall tropical trees. The gorge is also home to mammals and other smaller primates. The whole activity takes between 2 to 3 hours.

Wake up early to the sounds of the forest and enjoy a hearty breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a 7:45 am briefing. Here, you’ll be grouped with other trekkers and assigned an experienced guide who will lead you into the dense jungle in search of a habituated gorilla family.
The trek can last anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on where the gorillas are that day. The terrain is rugged and steep, but the experience is absolutely worth it. As you approach the gorilla family, all fatigue fades away—your first glimpse of a silverback or a playful juvenile is truly surreal.
You’ll spend a magical hour quietly observing the gorillas in their natural habitat: watching them groom, feed, nap, or even make eye contact with you. It’s emotional, raw, and unforgettable.
