Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park

You will be picked up early in the morning (around 5:00am) from your accommodation in Dar es Salaam for the journey to Mikumi National Park. The drive takes about six hours, with a stop in Morogoro town to enjoy lunch along the way.

You will arrive at Mikumi in the afternoon, just in time for an exciting evening game drive. Explore different areas of the park, including the Mkata Plains, Kisungura area, and the hippo pools—all offering fantastic opportunities for spotting wildlife.

After a rewarding day, you will enjoy dinner and settle in for an overnight stay at your lodge.

Game Drives in Mikumi National Park

After breakfast, you will head out for a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. Mikumi is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, including lions, elands, hartebeests, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffes, zebras and elephants. With a bit of luck, you might even spot a pack of wild dogs. The open horizons and rich wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, the park's popular centrepiece, often draw comparisons to the famous Serengeti Plains.

Your game drive will continue until around 3:00pm, when you will return to your lodge for some well-deserved rest in preparation for the night's adventure.

At around 8:00pm, you will set off on a night game drive, visiting some of the park's must-see spots under the cover of darkness. The bush comes alive at night, offering an entirely different and unforgettable perspective on the wildlife and landscape. You will return to the lodge at around 11:30pm for dinner and an overnight stay.

Mikumi National Park to Dar es Salaam

After an early breakfast, you will begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam, passing through Morogoro Town along the way. On arrival in the city, you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your safari adventure.
