Day 2

Early morning transfer to nearby Arusha Airport will get you on your way to the Serengeti. With its vast grasslands that stretch as far as the eye can see, an early morning drive and early evening drives into the central Serengeti are surely one of the highlights of your trip. The Maasai term “Siringitu,” which means “endless plains,” is where the name “Serengeti” originates. Rich in wildlife and beautiful landscapes, Serengeti promises a lot of incredible memories.

For birders, the park boasts about 500 bird species, the park promises a birder’s satisfaction. Species like the African Ostrich, crowned cranes, the elegant secretary birds and the abundant vulture species that promise a kill on the plains. After an amazing day spent exploring the Serengeti’s middle plains, you’ll return to your lodge for a hot meal and some evening relaxation.

Day 3

Serengeti Migration

Enjoy a full day on the Serengeti immersing yourself into one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on the planet, The Great Migration. Around 1.5 million wildebeests, zebras and impala migrating through the Serengeti every year. Predators including lions, leopards, wild dogs, cheetahs, hyenas and crocodiles pick off the old and weak animals keeping populations healthy and their numbers stable. Some 300,000 migrant animals are lost to predators, river crossings and fatigue during the migration every cycle.

Head to the famous crocodile infested rivers of the park where large migration herds of wildebeests and zebras brave the strong currents of Grumeti, Seronera and Mara Rivers while the enormous Nile Crocodiles feast and stack up on the unfortunate individuals in what is an impressive and dramatic sight. After an unforgettable day, you will head back to your accommodation to relax and savor the experience of the day.

You will depart on a flight to Manyara Airstrip then a short drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. When you arrive at the crater, you may stand on the rim and look spectacularly down to the floor and out across the 100 square mile area of the crater. One alternative is to spend an hour walking with a ranger from Ngorongoro Crater along the rim of the crater. The rim also provides opportunity for breath-taking photos to make your trip memorable.

You will go to your next lodge for the evening’s leisure activities, dinner, and overnight after this preview of tomorrow’s descent into the Crater.

Descend from the Crater’s rim to the floor and experience the most amazing geological feature in Africa and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. Formed three million years ago, and with a distinctive habitat, the crater is home to one of the densest wildlife populations on earth.

Get to explore and discover wildlife species of the East African savanna in the grass steppes and acacia forest of the crater, including the “Big Five” (rhino, elephant, Cape buffalo, lion, leopard). You may also be fortunate to encounter the endangered black rhinoceros.
