Arusha to The Land of Giants

You will be picked up at the airport or your hotel in Arusha and meet your driver, who will take you to Tarangire National Park. It is best to start early in the morning to maximize your time on safari. If your arrival is late, an overnight stay in Arusha is recommended, with the safari beginning the next day. The drive to Tarangire takes approximately two hours. Upon arrival, you will begin an exciting game drive that continues until evening. Lunch will be served at a designated picnic site inside the park, and dinner will be enjoyed at your lodge.

Tarangire National Park is named after the Tarangire River, the essential water source for wildlife during the dry season. The park is famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and tree-climbing African pythons. Through the Highlands to the Heart of the Serengeti

After breakfast, set out on a breathtaking drive toward the world-renowned Serengeti National Park, passing through the lush Ngorongoro Highlands. This high-altitude region features mist-covered forests, rich volcanic soil, and traditional Maasai villages. As you pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, keep an eye out for zebras, giraffes, and Maasai herders—a rare harmony of people and wildlife.

Once you descend onto the Serengeti Plains, the vastness and wildlife abundance are immediately captivating. Arrive in the Seronera Valley, a prime region teeming with lions, cheetahs, and leopards, thanks to the year-round water source of the Seronera River. Stop for a picnic lunch under a lone acacia, then continue on an exciting afternoon game drive in search of predators, wildebeest, elephants, giraffes, and Nile crocodiles. As the sun sets, arrive at your Serengeti camp, where a warm meal and starlit sky welcome you.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Wake early for a final glimpse of the Serengeti before heading back toward Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife destinations. After reaching the crater rim by mid-morning, descend 600 meters into this collapsed volcanic caldera, often dubbed the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” The UNESCO-listed site is rich in biodiversity, hosting a thriving population of large mammals within its 260-square-kilometer floor.

On a 5- to 6-hour game drive, expect to see black rhinos, large prides of lions, hippos, warthogs, flamingos at Lake Magadi, and even the elusive leopard or cheetah. Enjoy a picnic lunch near the hippo pool, where grunting hippos provide a memorable backdrop. In the late afternoon, ascend the crater and continue to your Karatu lodge for a warm dinner and a peaceful night surrounded by the highlands.

Your final safari day takes you to Lake Manyara National Park, nestled at the base of the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment. Though compact, the park is one of Tanzania’s most diverse. Begin your drive through dense groundwater forest, home to blue monkeys and massive baboons troops, then transition into grassy plains and open wetlands near the alkaline lake—often shimmering pink with flamingos and migratory birds.

Search for the park’s legendary tree-climbing lions, elephants emerging from the jungle, and hippos wallowing in shallow pools. Birdlife abounds here, from storks to pelicans.
