Arusha to Tarangire National Park
The tour starts with a drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, located about two hours southwest. This park is famous for its huge elephant herds, impressive baobab trees, and seasonal swamps that attract a wide range of wildlife. During the game drive, it’s common to see zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, buffalo, and predators such as lions and leopards. The landscape is dry and open, making it easier to spot animals. Birdwatchers will also enjoy the park, which hosts over 500 bird species. A picnic lunch will be provided inside the park, giving you a chance to enjoy the scenery while resting. In the late afternoon, you’ll leave the park and head to Ngare Lodge, a comfortable midrange accommodation located nearby. After an early breakfast, you’ll drive out of the Serengeti and head toward Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera often referred to as Africa’s “Eden” due to its high concentration of wildlife. You’ll descend into the crater for a full-day game drive. The enclosed environment creates a natural sanctuary for many species, including elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and lions. With luck, you may also see the rare black rhinoceros, which survives in small numbers here. The crater floor includes grasslands, forested areas, and a soda lake that attracts flamingos and other water birds. You’ll stop for lunch at the designated picnic area near a hippo pool, where you can enjoy the scenery while watching animals nearby. Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
The final day of the safari includes a visit to Lake Manyara National Park, which lies along the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Although the park is smaller than others visited, it features a rich variety of habitats—dense forest, open plains, acacia woodland, and a large alkaline lake. This makes it an ideal home for many animal species. You’ll enter the park for a morning game drive, where you may encounter elephants moving through the forest, blue monkeys, baboons, and possibly the park’s unique tree-climbing lions. The shores of Lake Manyara are often dotted with flamingos, pelicans, and other water birds. The forested parts of the park offer a cool contrast to the savannahs of the previous days. After the game drive, enjoy lunch and begin the return journey to Arusha. You’ll arrive in the afternoon or early evening, marking the end of the safari.
