After an early breakfast, head into Akagera National Park for an exciting morning game drive across its open plains, woodlands, and wetlands. Keep an eye out for elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, lions, and, with luck, leopards and rhinos. After lunch, enjoy a relaxing boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you can observe large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles, and a remarkable variety of water birds, including the African fish eagle. Following the cruise, depart for the Rwanda–Uganda border and complete immigration formalities before continuing to Lake Mburo National Park.
