Your safari begins with a warm welcome from your Nathan African Safari guide at your hotel in Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport. After a short briefing, you’ll drive south toward Tarangire National Park—a hidden gem famous for its ancient baobab trees and the largest elephant herds in northern Tanzania.

As you enter the park, the dry riverbeds and open savannah come alive with wildlife. You'll spot elephants bathing in the Tarangire River, giraffes wandering through the grasslands, and possibly predators like lions or leopards lurking in the shade.

As you enter Serengeti National Park, the landscape transforms into wide open plains—the classic African savannah filled with wildlife.

You'll enjoy a game drive and route to your tented camp, spotting herds of wildebeest, zebras, antelopes, and perhaps the big cats following closely behind.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Wake before sunrise to enjoy an early morning game drive, the best time to witness predators in action. As the sun rises over the golden plains, the park comes alive with activity. You may spot a leopard returning from a night hunt, a lion pride on the move, or hyenas squabbling over a meal.

Return to camp for a late breakfast or early lunch, then begin your journey toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The road winds through scenic savannahs and crater highlands, with more wildlife encounters along the way.

By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at your lodge located on the crater rim or nearby in Karatu. At this higher elevation, the air is cool and crisp, offering a refreshing change from the lowlands. Enjoy a quiet evening, hearty dinner, and prepare for the next day’s descent into one of the most remarkable natural wonders on Earth.

Explore the crater floor on a half-day game drive, with a chance to spot the Big Five—elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino, and leopard. You’ll likely see large herds of zebra and wildebeest, massive tusker elephants, and endangered black rhinos. Lions roam the open grasslands, while hippos wallow in freshwater pools and flamingos paint the soda lake pink.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at the hippo pool, then ascend the crater wall and return to your lodge for a well-deserved rest.

Explore the park’s diverse habitats, from groundwater forests and hot springs to open plains and lake shores. You may spot elephants feeding in the forest, hippos in the shallows, or giraffes grazing on the edge of the lake.
