Check in at Lushoto Eco Home and an optional hike to Irente View Point.
Arrive and check in at Lushoto Eco Home. Relax for some minutes and then meet our guide for a briefing and hike to Irente viewpoint for sunset, approximately a loop distance of 15 km. Drive or walk back to Lushoto for overnight at the Hotel.

Trek toward to mazumbai

After Breakfast, start trek toward Mazumbai, which is located in the southeast and faces east of the West Usambaras. The trek is through the villages and agricultural land, passing through the villages of Kwadoe and Hehangala on the way, viewing individual tea growers and the Herkulu Organic tea estate. Picnic lunch at the top of Vuluni village, where you experience the daily life of the Wasambaa with an excellent view of Bumbuli and the East Usambara mountains. Dinner and accommodation at a community-based home stay at Kwalei.

Mazumbai Trek

(5-7 hrs)
After breakfast, commence walking to Mazumbai via Mbokoi village at the top of the ridge, offering superb views and a chance to meet local people. Enter the rain forest, birdwatching en route, and watch birds on the way as well as black and white Colobus monkeys—an incredible place to observe nature. The 320-hectare forest reserve has been set aside for ecological conservation and higher education studies, stretching from 1350 m above sea level to 1900 m at the top, where the zone bounds of vegetation change. Mazumbai is a bird lover's paradise. 0900 Walk through the farmland and learn about old farming practices in the Usambara. Dinner and overnight at Mazumbai Rest House.

Trek from Mazumbai to Bumbuli

5-6 hrs Trek from Mazumbai to Bumbuli via villages, along a nice view over the Lwengera Valley, and via another way, round back to Bumbuli. Have a delicious lunch somewhere in Bumbuli and then take a private car back to Lushoto and overnight at Lushoto Eco Home.

Departure

Pick the bus to Dar es Salaam or Arusha.
After breakfast in the morning, you will be transferred to the bus stand in Lushoto town. Take the public bus to Arusha or Dar es Salaam to continue with your schedule, or you can opt to do a safari with us.
