Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Following breakfast, your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha, marking the start of your exciting safari. You’ll head southwest on a scenic 3-hour drive to Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River that flows through it, providing the only reliable water source for wildlife during the dry season. Spanning 2,850 square kilometers, the park is famous for its dense population of elephants, towering baobab trees, and sightings of tree-climbing African pythons. Upon arrival, you’ll embark on a full-day game drive, exploring the park’s diverse landscapes and spotting a variety of wildlife, including lions, giraffes, zebras, and numerous bird species. Midday, you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the park’s scenic spots, likely with views of the river and animals gathering nearby. In the late afternoon, you’ll leave the park and drive to your lodge or campsite, where you’ll unwind with a delicious dinner and spend the night in the heart of the bush.

Today begins with an early morning game drive before breakfast, offering a chance to witness the Serengeti’s wildlife at its most active and enjoy a breathtaking sunrise over the savannah—one of Africa’s most unforgettable sights. After the game drive, return to the camp for a hearty brunch. In the afternoon, you’ll head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, often called the 8th Natural Wonder of the World. The crater, with its 2,000-foot walls and 102 square mile floor, is a self-contained haven for nearly every species found in East Africa, including the rare black rhino. It holds the highest concentration of wildlife on the planet and features diverse landscapes: rivers, swamps, a soda lake filled with flamingoes, forests, and open plains. The area is also known for its massive bull elephants with large tusks, nourished by the crater’s mineral-rich soil. As evening falls, you’ll arrive at your lodge or campsite near the crater rim for dinner and overnight rest.

The crater also hosts flamingos and a variety of waterfowl along its lake shores.
