From above, admire views of the Great Rift Valley and endless savannah. Upon landing, your All Wheels safari guide will greet you and begin your first game drive. This is prime territory for witnessing the legendary Mara River crossings, as thousands of wildebeest and zebras brave crocodile-infested waters. After breakfast, depart Central Serengeti and begin your journey southward to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (approximately 2.5 hours game drive). This is not a large park that requires a lot of time during the day to explore; rather, it is a small collection of animals that would take you about 5 to 6 hours to explore in its entirety. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wonder teeming with wildlife—elephants, lions, hippos, hyenas, and possibly the endangered black rhino.
Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool and spend several hours exploring the crater floor before ascending and continuing to your lodge in Karatu (approximately 1 hour). Set in the forested highlands, your lodge offers tranquility and comfort, along with views of the Great Rift Valley. Relax with a drink by the fireplace and reflect on the day’s sightings over a farm-to-table dinner.
