Arrival in Harar (via Dire Dawa Airport, then 1.5–2 hour drive to Harar).
Meet your local guide and transfer to your guesthouse or hotel, ideally located near the old town (Jugol).
Brief orientation session with your guide about Harar’s unique history, culture, and geography.
Afternoon:
Begin your on the way ypu will visit of Harar Jugol, the fortified old town with over 82 mosques, over 100 shrines, and narrow, winding alleyways.

Breakfast at your hotel.
Visit the Harar Market (Gidir Magala and Asmaddin Market) – a bustling and colorful scene where locals sell everything from spices and khat to baskets and traditional clothing.
Visit the Sherif Harar City Museum, housed in a beautiful traditional mansion, showcasing Harari history, manuscripts, and Islamic art.
Continue on to explore Shrines of local saints (Awach) and learn about the blended Sufi-Islamic practices of Harar.
Afternoon:
Take a short trip to Kondudo Mountain or nearby Awaday town, famous for its khat production and trade. Khat is a mild stimulant chewed socially in much of the Horn of Africa.
Optional: Enjoy a local injera lunch with traditional Harari dishes like sanbusa, fuul, and harari tibs.
Visit a Harari weaving workshop or craft center, where you can observe or try traditional basket weaving or cotton spinning.

Time for last-minute shopping in the craft markets—pick up woven baskets, handmade textiles, or Harari coffee.
Afternoon:
Lunch at a scenic local café or cultural restaurant.
Begin transfer to Dire Dawa, with optional stop at Dire Dawa Railway Station (a historical site built during the French colonial railway project).
