Day 1

Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with a morning transfer from Moshi or Arusha to Marangu Gate, where you’ll register and meet your mountain team. The hike starts through the lush rainforest, alive with birdlife, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and exotic flora.
Arrive at Mandara Hut, your first overnight stop. If time allows, take a short walk to Maundi Crater for great views of Kenya’s interior.

Day 2
Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut (3720m)

After breakfast, continue climbing through the forest and into the heath and moorland zone, where giant groundsels and other unique alpine plants begin to appear. Enjoy sweeping views of Mawenzi Peak, Kilimanjaro’s rugged twin.
Reach Horombo Hut in the afternoon, where you'll rest for the night with stunning views of Kibo summit in the distance.

Day 3
Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut (4700m)

Today’s trek takes you into the barren beauty of the alpine desert. You’ll cross the Saddle, a vast plateau between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The trail is dusty and exposed but surreal in its beauty.
Arrive at Kibo Hut by afternoon. After an early dinner, you'll rest and prepare for your midnight summit attempt.

Day 4
Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Horombo Hut

Wake at midnight for a light snack and begin the most challenging part of your trek. Hike slowly in the dark through volcanic scree toward Gilman’s Point (5,685m), then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) — the highest point in Africa!
Take in the sunrise and breathtaking views, then begin your descent back to Kibo Hut for brunch, and on to Horombo Hut for your final night on the mountain.
Hiking Time: 12–14 hours
Distance: ~6 km up / 15 km down

Day 5
Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Back to Moshi/Arusha

After breakfast, begin your final descent through the moorland and lush forest back to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate. Your driver will meet you for transfer back to Moshi or Arusha, where a hot shower and well-deserved rest await!
