SGR Dar-Morogoro & Mikumi Safari

You will take the SGR Train for 1 hour 30 minutes from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro. Once you reach Morogoro, you will be transferred to Mikumi National Park. Once you arrive you will check-in at the Lodge for lunch. Later you leave for an afternoon game drive in Mikumi National Park where you get to see the open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, the popular centerpiece of Mikumi, which draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. Dinner and overnight at the Camp.

Game Drive in Mikumi National Park

After a full breakfast, you will head to explore the diverse wildlife and
undisturbed nature for a full day. Lions survey their grassy kingdom – and
the zebra, wildebeest, impala and buffalo herds that migrate across it –
from the flattened tops of termite mounds, or sometimes, during the
rains, from perches high in the trees. Giraffes forage in the isolated
acacia stands that fringe the Mkata River, islets of shade favoured also
by Mikumi's elephants. Criss-crossed by a good circuit of game-viewing
roads, the Mkata Floodplain is perhaps the most reliable place in
Tanzania for sightings of the powerful eland, the world’s largest
antelope. The equally impressive greater kudu and sable antelope haunt
the miombo-covered foothills of the mountains that rise from the park’s
borders. Proceed with a game drive till late afternoon. Dinner and
overnight at the Camp.

Departure

Early morning (sunrise game viewing) game drive, return to the hotel for breakfast and rest, packing ready to leave. You will be transferred from Mikumi to Morogoro where you will take the SGR train back to Dar Es Salaam.
