We depart Johannesburg with a packed breakfast en route to the famous Sabi Sands Game Reserve. As we approach Gowrie Gate, the entrance to Sabi Sands, we experience the scenic landscapes passing through the local villages.

Arathusa Safari Lodge is unique and highly sought-after by visitors because of its prime location within the Sabi Sands Reserve, adjacent to the unfenced Kruger National Park. Together, these 2 areas comprise one of South Africa’s most incredible and pristinely preserved wilderness sanctuaries.

Upon arrival at Arathusa Safari Lodge, you'll be welcomed with a refreshing drink and taken to your luxury safari suite. Once you have settled in, lunch is served on the deck overlooking the waterhole.

Embark on your first thrilling Big 5 game drive in an open-top 4x4 Land Cruiser with your ranger guide and tracker in search of African wild animals.

Dinner is served under the African skies.

Sabi Sands Game Reserve - Big 5 Safari

You will rise early to meet your guide and tracker for coffee and tea at the main lodge.

Arathusa offers game drives in an open safari vehicle, conducted in the early morning and late afternoon every day. The drives are in search of animals - both large and small. This means that about 8 hours of every day are spent in this natural sanctuary in search of the creatures who call it home.

Experienced, knowledgeable and personable rangers are paired with local trackers, and together, they ensure a first-class safari experience. Close encounters are guaranteed, and the animals are not threatened by the vehicles' presence thanks to sound conservation management policies. Expect one-of-a-kind photographic opportunities of the Big Five and much more, including over 300 bird species.

Guided walks with an armed ranger can also be arranged. Being on foot affords a unique and altogether different view of the bush.

End the day with some pre-dinner drinks and dinner under the African skies.

Today, you depart the beloved, legendary Sabi Sands Game Reserve, but not before embarking on your last morning game drive and a hearty breakfast overlooking the waterhole. A friendly African Safari Guru representative will meet you at the reception to transfer you to the "Big Five" Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, one of the largest privately owned nature reserves in South Africa. It covers some 60,000 hectares and forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park.

Arrive at Makumu Safari Lodge, where you'll be welcomed with a refreshing drink and taken to your beautifully appointed suite. The lodge ensures an exclusive blend of absolute comfort and is inspired by African groups with a unique character. Situated on a hill, it provides an elevated position and uninterrupted views over the bushveld.

After lunch, embark on a thrilling game drive in the late afternoon and return by nightfall for a 5-star cuisine dinner prepared by the 5-star chef under the African skies.

Wake up to the fresh African bush smells. At the main lodge area, you'll meet your guide and tracker for coffee and tea. Then, embark on your last game drive in the wilds of Kruger National Park.

Return to the lodge, where the chef will prepare your hearty breakfast. After breakfast, head back to your classic safari suite to freshen up.

A friendly and knowledgeable African Safari Guru representative will wait for you at the reception area, where your bags will be packed. Then, you'll be transferred in a comfortable 4x4 or SUV vehicle to KMIA Nelspruit Airport.
