After breakfast, you will depart for a full day game drive in Tarangire National Park, located approximately 120 km from Arusha a scenic 2-hour drive through the Northern Safari Circuit. Though it is the sixth-largest park in Tanzania, Tarangire is a hidden gem that offers far more than meets the eye. The park is famous for its vast herds of elephants, iconic baobab trees, and year-round birdwatching opportunities, with over 500 species recorded. As you drive through the savannah, take time to observe not only the large game but also the fascinating smaller creatures that make this ecosystem thrive. Expect to see lions, zebras, giraffes, and various antelope species, all drawn to the life-giving Tarangire River. In the late afternoon, after a rewarding day of exploration, you will head toward your lodge in Karatu. The crater floor’s permanent water sources sustain over 25,000 large mammals, including lions, leopards, black rhinos, hyenas, zebras, waterbucks, baboons, and more.
