Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Akagera National Park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport (KGL), you will be met by a representative from Gorilla Explorers. They will assist with your luggage and provide a private transfer to Akagera National Park. The drive is approximately 2.5-3 hours, offering scenic views of the Rwandan countryside.
Embark on an afternoon game drive in Akagera National Park. This initial game drive will introduce you to the park's diverse wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, various antelope species, and potentially some of the smaller predators. Your experienced guide will provide insights into the park's ecosystem and the animals you encounter. Enjoy a sundowner at a scenic spot within the park, followed by dinner at your lodge.

Game Drive, Wildlife Exploration and Lake Ihema Boat Cruise

Start the day with an early morning game drive. This is often the best time to spot wildlife, as animals are most active during the cooler hours. Focus on areas known for lion and leopard sightings, as well as other predators like hyenas. Your guide will use their expertise to track animals and maximize your chances of seeing the Big Five.

Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, you can choose to participate in another game drive or opt for a boat safari on Lake Ihema. The boat safari offers a unique perspective on the park's wildlife, allowing you to see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species.

Enjoy a final evening game drive, focusing on nocturnal animals. Return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening, reflecting on the day's wildlife encounters.

Early Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Kigali

Enjoy a final early morning game drive, aiming to spot any wildlife you may have missed or to revisit favorite locations. This is another excellent opportunity to see the Big Five, as well as other animals. After a final breakfast at the lodge, check out and begin your transfer back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a brief city tour or a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial before heading to Kigali International Airport (KGL) for your departure.

A Gorilla Explorers representative will ensure a smooth transfer to the airport, assisting with check-in and departure procedures.
