Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your safari begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha (or directly from Kilimanjaro Airport). You’ll meet your professional safari guide and start your journey toward Tarangire National Park, about a 2.5–3 hour drive. This park is well known for its huge elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and impressive predator sightings during the dry season.

You’ll enjoy a full-day game drive with picnic lunch inside the park, exploring the Tarangire River area and its surrounding woodlands, where lions, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, and more gather.

In the late afternoon, check in at your lodge or tented camp for dinner and a relaxing evening.

Day 2

Tarangire to Central Serengeti

Tarangire to Central Serengeti

After an early breakfast, depart Tarangire and begin the journey north toward Central Serengeti, passing through Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive is long (about 6–7 hours), but incredibly scenic and filled with wildlife viewing opportunities along the way.

Upon reaching the Serengeti, enter the park through Naabi Hill Gate and continue with game viewing in the Seronera Valley, home to resident big cats, elephants, hippos, and antelope. Enjoy an afternoon game drive before settling in at your camp.

After breakfast, depart for Northern Serengeti, a remote and less-traveled region that comes alive from July to October with the Great Wildebeest Migration. The drive is a safari in itself approximately 5–6 hours of game driving through Serengeti plains, with picnic lunch on the way.

In the afternoon, arrive in the Mara River region, where you’ll begin searching for the migration herds and possibly witness the dramatic river crossings, where crocodiles and predators lie in wait.

Day 4

Northern Serengeti

Northern Serengeti

Today is a full day in Northern Serengeti, focused on the Great Migration. You’ll begin early in the morning with game drives near the Mara River, tracking the massive herds of wildebeest and zebras attempting to cross the crocodile-infested waters.

Aside from migration scenes, this area is rich in predators such as lions, leopards, and hyenas. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush or return to camp for a hot meal, then head back out for an evening game drive.

Day 5

Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti

After breakfast, depart Northern Serengeti and drive back south to Central Serengeti, continuing your wildlife adventure across the open plains. This region remains active with predators and resident animals, and it’s especially good for lions, cheetahs, and leopards hunting prey.

Enjoy game drives en route and explore different habitats and kopjes (rocky outcrops), which are ideal for wildlife photography. Arrive at your central camp or lodge by late afternoon for relaxation and dinner.

Day 6

Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, begin your journey out of the Serengeti with a final en route game drive. Travel southeast through the Naabi Hill Gate and descend into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You’ll drive through beautiful highland scenery along the crater rim.

Depending on arrival time and energy levels, you can stop at a Maasai boma or viewpoint along the way. Settle into your lodge near the rim or on the outskirts.

This evening, prepare for an early morning descent into the crater.

Day 7

Ngorongoro Crater, Overnight in Karatu

Today you will descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater after an early breakfast. The crater floor is home to some of the densest populations of wildlife in Africa, including endangered black rhinos, large lion prides, buffalo, elephants, flamingos, and hippos.

Enjoy a full-day game drive (or split into two half-day drives) with a picnic lunch at the Ngoitoktok Hippo Pool, one of the crater’s most picturesque spots.

In the late afternoon, exit the crater and drive to Karatu, a charming town nestled in the highlands between Ngorongoro and Lake Eyasi. Here you can relax at your lodge and enjoy views of the surrounding coffee farms and hills.

Hadzabe Tribe Visit (Lake Eyasi) and Return to Arusha

After an early breakfast, drive to the nearby Lake Eyasi region for a fascinating cultural experience with the Hadzabe tribe, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer communities in Africa.

Spend the morning learning about their traditional lifestyle. You may go on a short hunt with the Hadzabe men, observe how they make fire by friction, and see their simple yet effective survival tools. A visit to the neighboring Datoga blacksmiths is also possible, where metal tools and jewelry are forged using primitive techniques.

After the cultural immersion, return to the lodge for lunch or enjoy a packed lunch before beginning your journey back to Arusha, arriving by late afternoon or early evening.

You’ll be dropped off at your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your incredible Tanzania safari.
